In this study, we propose a pre-registered replication of the research conducted by ten Brinke & Porter (2012). Their study identified four behavioural cues to deception that could distinguish deceptive murderers from genuinely distressed relatives, pleading for the safe return of a missing person, with a high degree of accuracy. By replicating this research using a new sample, we aim to assess the generalizability of these findings and provide further insights into the reliability of behavioral cues in distinguishing between deceptive and genuine pleaders.
